Lockdown restrictions will soon get uplifted in the UK, and you can again go outside and breathe the fresh summer air. You can again sunbathe on the beaches and enjoy the summer like you always do. Just lift your lazy feet and venture out.

Get vaccinated, follow the post lockdown decorum, maintain social distancing, and you can have your regular life back. You might have picked up some hard to get rid of lazy lockdown habits.

FOGO

It used to be FOMO, fear of missing out. Now I am afraid of going out. Now you don’t bother about trends or fashionable products that will go off-shelf soon. You don’t fear missing out on some stylish limited edition stilettos or heavily discounted chic dress from your favourite brand. Maybe you still care about the fashionable goodies. But not as much as you were in 2019 or years before.

After staying a year in lockdown, you focus more on what you need. You do not keep on collecting dresses or shoes you know you will never wear. You get things you are more likely to choose. You order them online instead of going outside.

And why not? Shopping online is safe and much more convenient. You do not have to dress up, put on make-up and call your girlfriends to go shopping with you. With some swipes, you buy all your essentials at home. You don’t have to show your classy and chic nature while buying. You can go for cheap and thrifty products without minding what your friends would think.

Not going out is not exactly a bad habit. You cut down useless ventures outside. You can do a lot of things other than shopping in your spare time. You don’t need to push yourself to go out needlessly. You can stay precautious till the pandemic is totally annihilated. If you have a FOGO, you can leave it behind slowly. You don’t need to hurry with it.

Quality me-time to Us-time

All through the lockdown period, you stayed alone or with your family. You spend most of the time improving yourself or doing what you most want to do. You must have spent the most time on digital devices, attending online classes and lectures to add to your skillset or playing games on phones for recreation.

You must have gotten blue light glasses to adjust your eyes to increased screen time. You have become too cosy at home and have no plans for going out. But it is time to leave your quality me-time behind and shift back to normal. Give time to your friends and family too.

Make plans to go to parks or just a short road trip to get fresh air. It is time for you to meet people while still maintaining social distance.

Behaving normally in social places

After living in a year-long lockdown, people have forgotten how to behave in social places. You keep hearing about people behaving erratically in planes, sports events, malls in the US. Some have forgotten their civic senses while living in restrictions. After lockdown gets lifted in the UK, it might get to similar situations too.

You can only hope people do not take out their frustrations in public places. You can avoid going to crowded spaces to prevent any altercations or take a chill pill and just enjoy your time outside. And don’t forget to wear your sunglasses while outside. UV rays have been an issue in the summer before lockdown and still are. You will need high quality polarised sunglasses with UV 400 coating. Take your sunnies and enjoy your outings. There might be unpleasantries on the way, but it is better than staying cooped up in your home.

Working from offices

Many companies are rolling back the work from home schedule. Now you have to stagger back to your offices, travel in the crowded tube or on cabs, and even drink that distasteful coffee of the office. You can now get to meet your office colleagues that you loathe to see but have to because of work. And even have face time with your boss, who you missed dearly. You will be back to your usual 9-to-5 work schedule. No more laidback work hours but serious work from the office. To adjust back to your office and the headache that will ensue, you can update your prescription glasses. You can get blue light blocking glasses to reduce your eye strain. Get them made in stylish frames to look professional and confident and hide away the laid back attitude that got rubbed on you in the lockdown period.

Time to go for a digital detox

Too much screen time. If you want to describe your lockdown period in a nutshell for you, it will be this. You spend so much time on a digital device that it is right for you to say that you are addicted to these devices.

After post-lockdown, you need to bring your life back on track. Go for a total digital detox. It is a good idea to go on a vacation or a backpacking trip and leave all your gadgets behind.
