It was in 2017 that Specscart, a brainchild of Sid Sethi, came into inception. He is now the founder of Specscart, then an ordinary Manchester University student.

A pair of glasses is an intimate accessory, more like a body part for a glasses wearer. Spending a day without glasses feels weird. And for Sid Sethi, his semester exam was right around the corner when his only glasses pair broke. Like most Mancunians, when Sid’s glasses broke, he went to the high streets for emergency glasses purchase. Much to his dismay, none could fit a scrunched pocket of a student. At that time, Sid had to settle for cheap glasses and appeared in exams without glasses. That incident gave him the inspiration to provide cheap glasses for students. Now it’s a story to inspire the new addition to the Specscart family.

In this short span of 4 years, Specscart has come a long way. We started as a small store in Walkden, and a digital store to reach doors that are too far out of reach. Albert Gubay Award 2017 was a pat in the back that we were headed in the right direction. Specscart started as a University start-up, and now we are taking a small step at a time to reach our bigger goal. We are proud to tell you that we moved to a bigger store, 4 times larger than our previous store. We are deeply attached to our old store in Walkden. We started there, made plenty of memories and now, to fly higher, we moved to a bigger and better store. Our new store is also located in Walkden, even in the same place, just a bigger store. After all, how can we leave Walkden, the city that supported us so much?

Grand opening 2.0 in Walkden

On 4th September this year, we had a grand opening of our brand new year. Our mentor Dr Martin Henery, a lecturer and enterprise academic at the University of Manchester, cut the ribbons and marked the opening for our new store.

The event was simple with few games and giveaways. It was heartwarming to meet with people after the long spell of lockdown. The day was a success, and another store was ready for business, another step closer to the goal.

Walkden 2.0 has a lot of addition, other than comfortable sitting space, there is a lot of new glasses collection. We have a range of sports glasses, in-house brand Actics, which is a low key high utility sports glasses. If you need glasses with high functionality but in a sober style, the Actics are for you.

Another addition is the stylish wooden glasses. We all love the old style in modernised versions. We have added classy, hipster, funky and nerdy wooden glasses to the collection. Every glasses are unique with its texture and mature vibe. Check them out if you are looking for hypoallergenic or much greener alternatives.

Specscart Believes…

Glasses should not be as expensive as iPhones or cost you a major chunk of your monthly salary. Also, you should be able to show your personality with your glasses rather than let the boring glasses determine your worth. If you could afford plenty of stylish glasses, you can have a drawer for your glasses and pick according to your mood. To make this possible, Specscart offers stylish glasses frames at affordable prices without compromising on the quality of the lenses.

You won’t be disappointed with the quality of the glasses. Also, with impeccable services like next day delivery, free home trial, and many more, isn’t it worth coming back again and again.
