What is a perfect fit for glasses?

It is advised that you should wear glasses that fit your face. But what does it mean? You often think your glasses are perfectly sitting on your face when someone asks you why you are wearing glasses that big. Your frames are moderately sized and not like those hipster glasses. But they appear more prominent on your face.

When you go for a perfect fit, you get headaches after a few days. You will then go back to your optician to help you adjust your glasses frames. The tussle of perfect fit is an ongoing battle. You might know your three numbers but still find your glasses slipping down your nose.

How to know if your glasses are of perfect fit?

Trying them out is one way. You can go glasses shopping and try them in the shop or order the eyeglasses for a free home trial. Choose your favourite pairs online and try them at home. Virtual try-on gives you a good idea of how they look on your face, but they still pose an iffy about their fit.

Touchpoints

When you are trying, pay attention to the touchpoints. Your glasses should only touch both sides of your nose and the temples. If your glasses frames are touching your cheeks or your eyebrows, they are not of your size.

Asians, not all of them, find it difficult to get glasses of the right fit because of their slightly low nose. You might have been teased throughout your childhood for your ethnic look. And not being able to find the perfect fit of glasses might annoy you.

Don’t fret over it. Most eyeglasses are made in a way to fit the general populace. I find it hard to get the right size of t-shirt or any outfit, in general. Everyone doesn’t come in the same size. We have a rich diversity mixed in all kinds of noses of different colours.

If you go through the trouble of slipping glasses, get glasses frames with adjustable nose pads. These nose pads can be raised a bit. You can tighten them to sit nicely on your nose. Remember to check the nose pads before buying, and you can fit any style of glasses on your nose. No need for going after Asian fit glasses specifically.

Covering parts

Glasses only cover your eyes and nothing more. If your glasses cover your eyebrows or your cheeks, they are too big on you. Oversized glasses frames should be moderate enough not to cover your cheeks and brows. When you are trying on your eyeglasses, try to make all kinds of faces. No, I am not joking.

Try out all expressions and stretch your facial muscles to know how much your glasses cover or touch. If your glasses touch your cheeks and get raised when you smile, they are big on you. Big glasses have more chances of coming off your face. Spectacles are expensive, and you probably won’t want them to break.

Temple Run

The arms of the glasses should run along with the temples and sit comfortably over your ears. Your eyes and ears are in alignment. If your glasses do not sit on your temple, your lenses are not properly on the eyes. This will pose a problem with your vision.

Lenses are made according to the centre of focus of your eyes. If you raise your head slightly to look, your centre of focus is in the upper portion of the glasses. If you look straight without lifting your head, your centre of focus will be in the centre. If your glasses do not sit properly on your face, you will have vision issues. You will not be able to see clearly at some distances and strain your eyes to see clearly.

When I recently took an eye test, I had trouble reading the smaller fonts on the vision chart even though they were more apparent at the beginning or with my own glasses. The optician suggested sitting back in the chair and see in a position I usually use. I have a short height, so I have a habit of raising my head to see. Your normal posture affects your vision. So, next time you get your glasses, get ones in the perfect fit so that you do not strain your eyes.

Get the visual balance.

Glasses should appear balanced on your face. When you try your glasses, check in the mirror if the glasses are symmetrically aligned. The top should be straight, and the arms perfectly run along with the temples.

Perfect fit glasses will rarely leave behind marks. If your glasses have left behind scars on the nose, try out adjustable nose pads or saddle nose bridges for your frames. If you are agile enough, you can do a little DIY and change the nose pads of your glasses.

Glasses are your everyday aids, so get ones that genuinely aid you and do not create obstacles for you. You can order your glasses from Specscart and get frames that will fit your face.
